Dashamsha, also called Dashamansha, is one of the most important divisional charts in Vedic astrology. It reveals our career path, professional success, and contribution to society—in other words, our dharma in the outer world.
The name Dashamsha means “one-tenth part.” To construct this chart, each zodiac sign is divided into ten equal segments, each 3 degrees wide.
If a planet falls in an odd (masculine) sign, its first segment—or amsha—belongs to the same sign. From there, the sequence of signs continues in natural zodiac order (Aries to Pisces). If a planet falls in an even (feminine) sign, the first amsha is ruled by the 9th sign from the original sign, and the rest follow in the usual sequence.
This divisional chart (also called D10) allows us to:
Assess the strength of planets in relation to profession, Understand the types of work suited to the native, And examine planetary yogas that indicate fame, leadership, or setbacks in one’s career journey.
