Incantation of a Beauty – A prayer to a new moon

I rise with a blessing, cross myself before stepping out,
To the open field, where dreams are about.
By evening’s light, in the vast expanse,
I find a path and take a chance.
I walk with grace, no stone to trip,
Forgiven by mother, blessed by father’s grip.

From my kin, I part and stray,
To the white-burning Alatyr stone, I make my way.
Held by earth and washed by dew,
Dried by dawn, so pure and true.
God’s dew, wash me clean,
Bright dawn, make me serene.

Mother-earth and father-sky, hear my plea,
Dress me (name) in clouds, set my beauty free.
As dawn and sun do captivate,
May my face attract, with beauty innate.
Old and young, may they all see,
Each day wishing to look upon me.

Dawn Mary, Mariyana, and Uliana fair,
Light up my eyes, with beauty rare.
Young bright moon, on the fence I lay,
Surround me with the Lord’s array.
With holy water, I cleanse my face,
Kings and nobles look with grace.

As they gaze upon divine array,
Angels, saints, and churches, bright as day.
May they look upon me, (name), with delight,
Not daring to deny me their light.
Gaze upon me, never tire,
Love me more than sun and fire.

I call for beauty, badness be gone,
In health and strength, I carry on.
No one to scold or cast a curse,
Beauty and God’s grace I immerse.
My words with spirit, strong and bright,
Blessed with wonders, day and night.

Deaf to ill words, blind to my flaw,
All shall see, with love and awe.
King David was revered with fame,
So may they love and honor my name.
Key, lock, tongue, let it be,
Amen. Amen. Amen, so shall it be.
