According to legend,
Ostara — the goddess of dawn and spring —
once turned her beloved bird into a hare
to delight a group of children.
The hare kept the magical ability
to lay colorful eggs,
which it would leave in nests of moss and grass
for children to discover on Ostara’s feast day.
🐇🥚
Because the hare is connected to the Moon,
many traditions celebrate Ostara
during the full moon after the Spring Equinox.
🌞 Rise at Dawn
Ostara is the goddess of new beginnings.
Her name is connected to the east — where the sun rises.
The most sacred moment of the day
is sunrise.
Wake early, step outside,
listen to the birds,
watch the sun return.
Take a quiet moment to meditate and set intentions
for the new season of growth.
🌸 Spring is beginning again.
🌿 GET OUTSIDE
One of the most beautiful ways to celebrate Ostara is to step into nature.
Take a slow walk and notice
the first flowers,
the budding trees,
and the birds returning for spring.
You can gather small pieces of nature for your altar —
flowers, fresh greenery, or budding twigs
(always respectfully and responsibly).
If you have a garden,
this is the perfect time to plant:
🌱 peas
🌱 radishes
🌱 lettuce
🌱 early spring flowers
Bring your kids, friends, or even your dog
and welcome the season together.
Spring reminds us that
new life is everywhere.
🌸 Celebrate it.
🌸 WEAR A FLOWER CROWN
Celebrate Ostara
by wearing a crown of fresh spring flowers.
As you place it on your head,
write down your intentions for growth, renewal, and new beginnings.
Let the flowers remind you
that just like nature…
you are blooming too. 🌿
🌿 PREPARE YOUR OSTARA ALTAR
After your morning walk,
create a small altar to welcome spring’s energy.
Decorate it with:
🌸 Spring flowers
(crocus, daffodil, primrose)
🥚 Decorated eggs
— symbols of new life
🌱 Sprouting seeds or seedlings
— the promise of growth
💧 A bowl or chalice of water
— honoring feminine energy
🐇 Hare symbols or statues
— sacred to the goddess of fertility
Use soft spring colors
pale green, pink, and sunrise yellow.
Let your altar become a space
for renewal, intention, and gratitude. 🌼
🌼 DECORATE YOUR HOME
Welcome the energy of Ostara into your space.
Open your windows
and let fresh spring air renew your home.
Fill your space with living flowers:
🌼 daffodils
🌷 tulips
🌸 spring blossoms
Their fragrance awakens
the magic of the season.
Hide a few colorful eggs outside
as symbols of life, fertility, and abundance.
And don’t forget a spring cleaning —
clear away the old
to make space for new opportunities.
🌿 A fresh home invites fresh beginnings.
