You can invite fairies into your garden by creating them a place to live.
There are several ways you can attract fairies to your garden. They are pretty picky creatures, so making them happy is the key to keeping them in your garden once you have invited them.
First, make sure you have the flowers they love. Fairies, hummingbirds, butterflies, and bees most of all love all bell-shaped flowers. Try adding these plants to your garden:
(1) Lamb’s ear, (2) Yarrow, (3) Coneflower, (4) Rosemary, (5) Lavender, (6) Rose, (7) Lilac, (8) Morning Glory, (9) Foxglove, (10) Thyme
These particular plants you also can use in your magical works, recipes, and herbal remedies. Foxglove and morning glory are toxic, so don’t use those, but the rest are safe!
Have all the flowers but want something more?
Try setting up an altar specifically for fairies and make regular offerings. You can include a fairy statue, tea lights, electric fairy lights, and crystals such as quartz, rose quartz, or moonstone on a flat rock or surface in your garden. Once your altar is set up, be sure to leave offerings on the altar or in small walnut shells.
Offerings is at your choice and can include some of the following ingredients:
(1) cream or milk, (2) ale, (3) wine, (4) cider, (5) honey, (6) nuts, (7) chocolate, (8) flowers (see above) and (9) shiny objects like coins and jewelry
Fairies love music. Place chimes around your garden to invite the fairies to dance as the wind blows through your garden. Wind chimes are also a great way to add shine and sparkle to your garden in a way that fairies will love to stay.
Fairy house shall be very pleasing, so fairies will wish to visit you. Remember that fairies enjoy the same comforts you enjoy. The cutter the house, the more likely fairies will come and live in your garden. Do not be surprised to find small creatures living in your fairy house. Welcome them as beloved guests.
Fairy magic is powerful magic but just like the spells you cast, fairies need ingredients. One of the most important ingredients you can leave as an offering is honey. Honey can be hard to come by for fairies as bees heavily guard it. They will be grateful to you for leaving honey.
Let fairies know they are welcome in the space you have created for them, and that you are happy to have them join you in your garden and in the amazing world of magic.
You may be blessed with a quick glimpse of a shadow or sparkle in the corner of your eye from time to time if your home is welcoming.
The fairies that live outside of our realm are known to be truly wonderful and trusted souls look like nothing more than very attractive people. If they please, fairies can easily blend into our world without us knowing.
What You’ll Need
(1) flowers (see above)
(2) white candle
(3) the offering of quartz and cream/whole milk
The best time to perform the ritual is around Beltane (1st of May) or Midsummer. The reason for this is because these are two times when the veil for fairies is thin and therefore they are most likely to come out and be willing to take up residence in your garden.
The ritual also can be performed any time of the year when your garden is blooming.
Begin by setting your flowers, candle, and offerings on your garden or fairy altar. Light the candle and say,
“Fair fairies from near and far,
I invite you to dance in my yard.
Please stay awhile,
And brighten my garden with your smiles.
Bless these herbs and flowers,
And fill them with magical powers.
Use your magic to help them grow,
By the light of the moon’s glow.
Accept these gifts I give to thee,
By my will, so mote it be.”
Once you are finished, wait until the candle burns low. Listen and sense the fairies you have invited.
Leave the offerings on the altar overnight. Do not consume any of the food offerings you leave for the fairies. Do not expect your offerings to be eaten because fairies consume the astral or spiritual essence of the offering. Leave the quartz on the altar indefinitely.
The candle helps to focus your spell and gives the fairies a light to use to guide them to your garden. Your candle will burn in this realm and the Otherworld, acting as a beacon to draw the fairies to you.
Fairies don’t like to be thanked, but they love to be shown respect in the form of food and shiny objects. Milk, cream, beer, or any of the other food offerings mentioned above are fairy favorites.
You want to make sure the fairies are happy, otherwise, they are prone to cause mischief.
