The Four Aims of Life in the Horoscope

14. Dharma, Artha, Kama, Moksha

In Vedic philosophy, human life is guided by four great purposes, and they can be analysed through your chart:

Dharma (duty, spiritual path): 1st, 5th, 9th houses Artha (wealth, livelihood): 2nd, 6th, 11th houses Kama (desire, relationships): 3rd, 7th, 11th houses Moksha (liberation, inner freedom): 4th, 8th, 12th houses

You can compare:

Dharma vs Artha: If Dharma houses are stronger, the person will be spiritually inclined, prosperous, and self-driven. If Artha houses dominate, the person will be materialistic, hardworking, and more likely to work for others than lead. Kama vs Moksha: If Moksha houses are stronger, life may be marked by inner struggle and fewer pleasures. If Kama houses dominate, life brings more sensual enjoyment, desires, and ease in relationships.

15. Context Matters

Each house symbolises many different things, so you should always refine your predictions using the Bhinna Ashtakavarga for each planet.

For example, if the 4th house is weak (less than 28 bindu), it could mean many different things:

It might point to a difficult relationship with the mother Or struggles with property, comfort, or emotional security

The context of planetary rulers, aspects, and other Vargas must be included to get the full picture.
