Horse-sun in Slavic pagan mythology

Horses are considered fortune tellers and sacrificial animals. At various stages of its daily activity, the horse-sun changes its suit.

In the morning it is white, in the afternoon it is red (red), in the evening it is gray (dark gray).

The colors white and red are considered sacred, having a magical effect.

The sun is perceived as the source of life, it destroys and scares away the dark forces of evil, cold and death.

Therefore, solar amulets are often used on the roofs of houses in the form of images of horse heads, horse skulls were buried under buildings under construction and hung on fences.

For personal protection from negative influences, pendant skates are used, which were found in large numbers in the places of Slavic burials.

The solar nature of the horse is confirmed by its involvement in wedding and calendar rituals during the sun solstice.
